Meet the Leadership Team

Genia Stevens is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Jumpstart South Central Wisconsin.  She has more than 25 years of experience as a small business owner and nonprofit leader and brings deep expertise in strategic planning, organizational leadership, and entrepreneurship. Under her leadership, Jumpstart has grown into a regional economic development organization, providing business support, technology training, and capacity building services.

Genia has led initiatives that have helped hundreds of entrepreneurs access capital, strengthen operations, and create jobs. Her work is grounded in community outreach, equity, and collaboration, bridging the gap between grassroots entrepreneurs, educational institutions, funders, and policymakers. As a trusted community leader, Genia is committed to creating inclusive ecosystems where innovation, leadership, and economic mobility can thrive.

Genia is a respected community leader known for her extensive volunteer service and commitment to civic engagement. She actively serves on local boards, advisory committees, and community initiatives focused on economic equity, workforce development, and social impact. Her leadership and service have earned her numerous honors, including the NAACP Community Service Award, YWCA Woman of Distinction, and recognition as a Madison365 Most Influential Black Leader. Through her professional work and volunteer efforts, Genia continues to build strong partnerships, elevate underrepresented voices, and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem across South Central Wisconsin.
