Jumpstart South Central Wisconsin strengthens the regional economy by helping Black entrepreneurs start, grow, and sustain their businesses. We do this through community-informed training, business development support, and technology integration, built around three core pillars: entrepreneurship development, technology integration through our Tech Tank initiative, and nonprofit capacity building. We center Black-owned businesses because the gap is real: in 2023, Black Americans made up 14.4% of the U.S. population but only 3.4% of employer business owners. Closing that gap builds community wealth that lifts the whole region.Founded in 2019 as Rock County Jumpstart, a fiscally sponsored project, the organization quickly became a driving force for Black business owners. Now an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Jumpstart South Central Wisconsin is growing beyond Rock County to reach entrepreneurs across Rock, Green, Jefferson, and Walworth Counties. Our focus stays the same: advancing opportunity for Black entrepreneurs through innovation, education, and collaboration. By closing gaps in access to funding, technical skills, and networks, we help turn ideas into thriving businesses that fuel regional economic growth.
