The Jumpstart TechX Business Accelerator is a 10-week, community-centered economic development program built to grow the number and long-term success of Black-led employer firms across South Central Wisconsin. It focuses on businesses with one to five employees, including sole proprietors ready to grow. By helping these owners move up, TechX strengthens neighborhood economies, steadies household income, and builds community wealth.
Positioned where business meets technology, TechX gives entrepreneurs both core business skills and practical tech tools. Participants learn to use AI, data analytics, coding, and hands-on prototyping to improve operations, make sharper decisions, and open new paths to growth. This builds tech-ready founders who can compete in today’s economy without pushing growth beyond what their business can handle.
The program delivers a curriculum that blends practical training, one-on-one mentorship, and hands-on application. Entrepreneurs sharpen their business models, build financial readiness, and develop clear value propositions and pitch materials that support steady, sustainable growth. By combining five years of participant-informed, data-driven accelerator design with Jumpstart’s STEM programming, TechX grows the pipeline of investment-ready businesses rooted in real-world needs.
A core feature of the accelerator is better access to capital. Through partnerships with community lenders, financial institutions, and mission-aligned investors, participants gain exposure to fair financing paths, including grants, flexible lending, and alternative capital. Entrepreneurs build the knowledge and confidence to navigate funding systems that have long shut Black owners out, helping move more capital into communities that have been cut off from investment.
After the 10-week program, graduates receive up to two years of ongoing coaching, mentorship, and technical assistance. This extended support means entrepreneurs are not just ready to launch or grow, but are backed as they build resilient, scalable businesses that make a lasting community impact.
